The masthead, explained.

What The HE Sector is, what it publishes, and — just as deliberately — what it does not.

Purpose

Media, intelligence, publishing, information.

The HE Sector is the media, intelligence, publishing and professional information platform for Australia’s higher education sector and international higher education stakeholders. It reports the news, explains the rules, publishes the analysis, convenes the rooms and builds the working tools — for executives, academics, regulators, professionals and sector stakeholders.

The platform is a Career Calling International initiative and the higher-education sibling of The VET Sector, the established media brand for vocational education. Same editorial discipline; its own masthead, its own desks, its own identity.

What The HE Sector does not provide
  • Formal awards administration
  • Directory verification and listing management
  • Consulting services under the media brand
  • Provider registration or course accreditation services
  • Paid rankings presented as independent editorial findings
Those services sit under AHEG (higher education consultancy), HE Sector Awards (formal awards administration) and HE Sector Directory (verification and listings). Keeping them outside the masthead is what keeps the journalism independent.
Higher education status

The HE Sector / AHEG Media is an independent media, intelligence and publishing platform for the higher education sector. It is not a higher education provider, university, institute or regulator, and does not deliver courses, award qualifications, or make regulatory decisions.

Part of the CAQA Groups family — a Career Calling International initiative (ABN 53 162 651 238). This affiliation is a corporate/marketing relationship only and does not make CAQA, The HE Sector or any related brand a registered higher education provider, university, institute or regulator.
